Founded in April 2009, at the American University Washington College of Law, the National Security Law Brief (NSLB) is the nation’s first student-run law school publication to focus on the rapidly evolving field of national security law. The NSLB is a digital publication with a complementary blog component, devoted to examining the legal dimensions of United States national security law and policy. In addition to analyzing traditional security issues such as counterterrorism, intelligence collection, and nuclear proliferation, the NSLB also examines broad legal matters such as soft power, technology, cybersecurity, immigration, and sovereignty. The NSLB’s inaugural print issue was released in the Summer of 2010, and contained national security law articles written by accomplished professors and practitioners, as well as analytical pieces written by current students. The NSLB welcomes numerous points of view on national security law issues and encourages students, academics, and practitioners to submit feedback and articles for submission. Given our location in Washington, DC and our growing relationship with the legal community, we know that the NSLB will continue to serve as an ideal platform for new ideas in national security law.
